Appromately dating to 18th to 19th century, unique style, Japanese iron tsuba guard with impressive inlay metal work in the motif of samurai chasing oni demon. It is very good in condition with fine patina.
Estimated from 19th century, museum quality article, antique wooden carved makiri sheath with knife with fine and beautiful aged patina. This makiri is in very good in condition. It has been refered this Makiri to Mingu Zuroku, Ainu craft illustrated book, by Tsutomu Ito, a prominent ainu craft scholar. The book comes with this makiri.
